Classroom Resources

This Web 2.0 tool is an online blogging program that can be used in either a public or private setting. Teachers can use this in a variety of ways. Some examples include: creating blogs for each student; building a virtual classroom; publishing assignments, pictures, and documents; and having students engage and collaborate with one another.

This resource allows teachers, students and even parents to create visual stories. This is a tool that all aged students can use to develop and share a story. It is a global community in which all readers can explore their imagination and creatively express themselves.

Social networks have become increasingly popular among students of all ages. For parents who may not be comfortable with such sites, Edmodo has a similar principle but is password protected. Therefore, it is restricted to the class and monitored by the teacher. The layout and concept is very comparable to that of Facebook and Twitter. This tool can be used to share messages, ask questions, as well as share resources, allowing children to stay connected in a safe and educational manner.

This is a motivational tool for students who may have trouble reading. It can be used to teach reading as it contains an abundance of non-fiction information through several modes including: print, exhibits, and videos. It seeks to trigger curiosity, expand knowledge, develop reading skills, and encourage exploration.
