I am currently a student completing my teacher's college degree through Lakehead University in Orillia, Ontario. I was provided with an opportunity to develop this web page for a course entitled Media Literacy. I plan to regularly update this website with innovative ideas on how we, as future teachers, can incorporate media in our classrooms.
My passions and goals are shaped primarily around students and developing strategies that will help them succeed to their full potential. I have worked with students through different programs across Ontario. One experience I would like to share took place last spring, where I had the opportunity to be a Tutor in the Classroom for the Simcoe County District School Board. Through this program I worked with children in grades three and six to help prepare them for EQAO testing. Working with such a variety of students, I was able to observe and develop strategies for different weaknesses expressed in both literacy and mathematics. In the future, I hope to continue to help students overcome their hurdles while promoting their strengths.
Throughout the year, I enjoy playing flag football, ball hockey, and running. I believe that physical activity is an important aspect to maintain a healthy lifestyle - which I also hope to encourage in my classroom. In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my friends and family, playing board games, and reading a good book. I have two pet turtles that are a significant part of my life and I care very much about.
